Alpine Meadows Ski Resort Announces Month’s Snow Accumulation
as Top-Ten January Total in 40 Years
Lake Tahoe, CA – January, 2010 will enter the record books at Alpine Meadows Ski Resort as one of the top ten January months in 40 years for snow accumulation.
118 inches of snow fell at Alpine Meadows’ base area snow stake (elevation 6835’); and the resort’s mid-mountain snow stake (elevation 7500’) topped out at 165 inches – making this month the ninth-largest January accumulation total in 40 years of recorded snowfall data.
“All totaled, this month’s storms continued for more than two weeks,” said Deanna Gescheider, director of marketing and sales at Alpine Meadows Ski Resort. “I’m not at all surprised that this month stands out as one of the top for the past four decades of January accumulation. Even better than breaking into the top ten for January is that the skiing is absolutely phenomenal,” she added.
